Volksbühne, Barbie Breakout
Der aktuelle Host von „Drag Race Germany“ wird morgen um 11 Uhr die „atemberaubende“ Wachsfigur des US-Dragqueen-TV-Superstars RuPaul bei Madame Tussauds Berlin präsentieren. Eine wunderbare Wahl!
RuPaul, ein Symbol für Selbstverwirklichung und Empowerment, LGBTIQ*-Sichtbarkeit und Glamour wird ab morgen als Wachsfigur zu bestaunen sein. Die Dragqueen, die seit den späten 1980ern dank Hits wie „Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous“ und „Supermodel (You Better Work)“ und der TV-Show „RuPaul's Drag Race“ weltweit erfolgreich ist, wurde 1960 in San Diego/USA geboren. Höchste Zeit also, dass sie auch in Berlin in Wachs erstrahlt! RuPaul sei „nicht nur ein Entertainer, sondern auch ein Vorbild für Vielfalt und Toleranz“, so das Team von Madame Tussauds Berlin (Unter den Linden 74) dazu vorab.
Ganz so, wie Barbie Breakout, die die Figur enthüllen wird. Schon seit 1999 mischt die 1978 in Hofheim am Taunus geborene Buchautorin als DJane und Aktivistin die Berliner Szene auf, erste Erfahrungen als Dragqueen sammelte sie 1998 in Köln, seit 2001 nennt sie sich Barbie Breakout. Vor allem im TV („Shopping Queen“, „Drag Race Germany“ ...), dem Nachtleben und bei großen Events, wie etwa dem „Life Ball“ sorgt(e) sie für LGBTIQ*-Sichtbarkeit. Die nicht-binäre Freundin von Joko Koma ist aber auch eine sehr queer-politische Bloggerin und HIV-Aktivistin. Und morgen enthüllt sie RuPauls Wachsfigur. Wir freuen uns drauf!
